Unique And Beautiful Gemstone Cross Pendants

January 21st, 2008

You are not alone if you take peace and pride in wearing crosses.  You are also not alone if you love the trendy idea of having your birth date gemstones on your jewelry or if you have a favorite gem that you just have to have.  Combining these two elements bring to us the wonderful, beautiful and oh-so popular gemstone cross pendants.  These pieces are so beautiful and most importantly very unique.  The cross itself, of course, has been around for thousands of years.  However, adorning your cross with the gemstones that mean the much to you is a wonderful way to make the cross truly unique to your own personality.

Crosses, of course, have been the most popular type of pendant for thousands of years.  Wearing a cross not only shows one’s faith, it brings a sense of peace and tranquility to those who wear it.  It can make one feel protected and it can make one feel safe.  Gold crosses are very common; however to truly have a cross that is unique and shows off your particular personality and fashion sense, gemstone cross pendants are the piece of choice.  These crosses are crafted with so many different variations, that they are almost akin to snowflakes.  It is hard to find two that are alike.  Not only will they have a different assortment of gems and a different number of gems, they will also have different sized gems.  This, along with the choice of 24, 18, 16, 14, 12 or 10 karat gold and the choice of deciding the size of the cross, brings you a truly unique jewelry item.

Now, you may very well have favorite gemstones that you simply love because they are so beautiful.  It is one hundred percent acceptable to wear any gems that you wish; they do not need to represent your birth date. However, it is quite common for people to enjoy wearing the gem that related to their month of birth.  In addition, people find it very appealing to wear a piece that not only shows their own birthstone, but also the birthstone of their spouse and children; basically anyone that they love.  This can make for a very unique and beautiful piece of art.

If you decide that you would like to inquire about gemstone cross pendants with your own birth gem, you will want to know which gem belongs to you, or quite possibly those that you love.

January is the garnet; it is a wonderful yellow gem that shows depth and grace.  It also is found as a green gem or a pinkish one. Any one of these colors is perfectly acceptable, although the yellow one is the most well known.  February is the amethyst.  This gem was famous for adorning British royal crowns.  It is a very sparkling and light color purple.

March is the aquamarine.  This gem has wonderful stories that revolve around it.  The most magical being that mermaids tails were made of this gem and that sailors would wear the aquamarine to please the mermaids.  Those born in April are most likely happy that their stone is the diamond.  The diamond is the strongest mineral found on Earth.  The only thing that can scratch a true diamond is another diamond.

June brings us the Pearl.  This is the one gem that is not mined.  It is found within living shelled mollusks; most are sea creatures such as the oyster.  July brings the wonderful ruby.  Most people are aware of the red ruby; however this gem is naturally found in an array of colors that range from orange to pink to a dark wine colored red.

August bring the peridot.  This gem is a very interesting color.  It is a yellow green color and some say that the famous Queen Elizabeth may have actually had peridots in her famous jewelry instead of the emerald.   September brings the sapphire.  It is a wonderful deep blue gem that shows off very well against jewelry.

October brings the opal; which is quite different from other gems.  Small air pockets in this gem allow light to enter and this is what gives it the look as if pastel colors are trying to burst through. November brings a very interesting citrine.  Known for its magical protective powers, it is so rare that most jewelers will use yellow topaz in its place.  December rounds off the year with turquoise, long known for the its use in Native American jewelry.
